My Story:
As a daughter of immigrants, a woman, an engineer, and a mom of 3 young kids – This is why I am running for office. My parents immigrated to this country 45 years ago from India. They came here with nothing – no jobs and no family – but a dream for a better future. They worked very hard, raised 3 kids on the southeast side of Indianapolis, and sent all 3 of us to college.
We need more people who are invested in their communities, willing to listen to others, collaborate, and create solutions that move Indiana forward. Representation matters. Candidates from diverse economic, ethnic, and occupational backgrounds also better represent Indiana.
I believe government can be a source for good. Government should work for the citizens, and enact policies where every person has an equal opportunity at success. Government should apply laws and procedures equally to all citizens, as well as the protection of human rights.

My Story:
I am running for office because we need ordinary people like myself in
government, and I grew tired of showing up on election day to see unopposed candidates for office. I also believe that our problems are not being solved because of a professional political class that is far removed from the everyday life of ordinary people.
I am an immigrant from Jamaica, and I am happily married to my Wife whom I met in College. We have a blended family that includes 1 child that we have together, and 3 children that I have full custody of.
I believe that government is not the solution to all our problems. Sometimes problems can be solved by families, neighbors, friends, and when they join together, non-profit organization. I grew up in a Country without a lot of welfare safety nets. That molded my view of the role of government. The realization is that if government fails, you are on your own.

My Story
I am running for office because Hammond and Whiting need a bold progressive voice in the State house that will work to bring positive changes to our community.
I have been married to my husband Eric for 42 years. We have two sons. One is an Electrical Engineer, and the other is a Doctor of Physical Medicine.
My greatest achievements are turning around the lives of convicted felons during my career as a probation officer, volunteering with the National Brotherhood of Skiers and helping to promote the dream of getting a Black Skier on the U.S. Ski Team, and I was able to get the near bankrupt Ophelia Steen Center out of major debt.
I feel government should function by the people and for all people.

My Story
I am running for County Commissioner because I have four strong boys and I am concerned with the future of our community. I think we all have the responsibility to give back to the community that supported us as we struggled to grow up to make good choices. Having a strong community is important and it may sound cliché but it takes a village to raise children. I am running for office to serve my community by being transparent in the operation of our local government.
I am the first in my family to obtain a Master’s degree, am the Treasurer for Gilt Edge Baptist Church, Inc.’s Community Development Corporation, and a Board member for Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd. I am currently seeking my doctorate of Management in Organizational Leadership/Information Systems and Technology but has put it on hold to seek Floyd County Commissioner office.
I am the wife of Judah Martin of 10 years and a mother of five children.
I believe that the government should protect and provide.
